COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT/EQUITY POLICIES

OCCUR provides leadership, in collaboration with regional and national efforts that seek to compel and negotiate with banks and other lending and financial institutions to implement project-driven investment strategies in an effort to combat the system of lending discrimination and “redlining” in under-served communities. OCCUR remains a regional leader on issues linked to fair lending and the equitable distribution of reinvestment opportunities.

OCCUR is a founding and current member of the Board of Directors of the Greenlining Institute and Coalition, a national policy, organizing, and leadership institute working for social and economic justice.

OCCUR consistently develops and supports public policy activities designed to advance affordability, diversity, workforce, procurement, supplier diversity and opportunities for equitable development including local hiring and contracting. OCCUR co-authored the Oakland Equity Policy which seeks to mitigate the impact of major publicly subsidized real estate development on low/moderate income communities and emerging populations of color.
